FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists announced Monday that they have begun offering treatment for pets suffering from cancer in South Florida.
The specialty and emergency animal hospital has welcomed Dr. Lisa DiBernardi, a board-certified veterinary oncologist to their staff. DiBernardi received her doctorate of veterinary medicine from Louisiana State University and is board-certified in both veterinary oncology and radiology.
DiBernardi will lead Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists’ oncology service and brings over 15 years of experience to the position.
The goal of veterinary oncology is to maintain the highest possible quality of life for the pet, while also systematically inhibiting the growth of cancer cells with minimum effect on normal cells. This results in carefully calculated treatment schedules to minimize discomfort to the pets being treated.
“We are thrilled to add Dr. DiBernardi to our staff and to now offer cancer treatment for our communities’ pets,” said Dr. Ira Zaslow, a board-certified specialist in veterinary emergency and critical care and medical director of Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists. “We want to provide the best possible services, administered by the best doctors and I know this is a step in the right direction towards continuing that goal.”
DiBernardi is available for patient consultations on Mondays and Tuesdays at Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists starting this Tuesday.
