Dr. Lynel Tocci has been sending us updates and photos from the Iditarod sled race, which we post on the  LVS Facebook page as they come in.

Today, she wrote from Checkpoint McGrath.  Besides dealing with the very cold weather, there is little or no sleep for the support crews,  with only cat naps when you can catch one.  Sometime, this could be a library or Post Office.   As the teams arrive, the dogs are assessed and treated.  They are required to have one 24 hour layover during the race and many opt to do this at McGrath checkpoint.  The local children are involved in the annual event and they cook for the mushers and decorate blankets for the dogs.  Surely, Lynel will appreciate some Florida sunshine when this adventure concludes.
