LVS INITIATES ITS VISITING NURSE PROGRAM AT VICTORIA PARK ANIMAL HOSPITAL

Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists has a strong commitment to give back  and lend support to its referring veterinary community.  In the past three years we have hosted a free monthly lecture series for doctors and technicians which provided CE credits  for attendees.  LVS has recently initiated it’s outreach program with its ICU nurse, Amy,  visiting the Victoria Park Animal Hospital  for a session in anesthesia concentrating on induction and maintenance.   Amy received intense training from the late Dr. Steve Haskins, a father of Veterinary Anesthesiology and Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Medicine.  She also received training under Dr. Ira Zaslow, one of the founding fathers of Veterinary Critical Care Medicine and a charter diplomate of that College.

Dr. Birken and her staff were very excited to learn some new techniques covering the four stages of anesthesia that being pre-op, induction, maintenance and recovery.  While there, the team performed three procedures, becoming better adept and skilled with each one.  In just 2-3 hours LVS helped an animal hospital practice safer and  more effective anesthesia.  For Amy it was a fantastic experience and she can’t wait to go out in the field again!
